Champion Spark Plugs Power Top 5 Daytona 500 Qualifiers

While 23-year-old Austin Dillon is only the fifth rookie in history to win the Daytona 500 pole, he has one thing in common with the four other top-five qualifiers for next Sunday's race: His engine is powered by "Performance Driven" Champion spark plugs from Federal-Mogul Corporation.

While 23-year-old Austin Dillon is only the fifth rookie in history to win the Daytona 500 pole, he has one thing in common with the four other top-five qualifiers for next Sunday’s race: His engine is powered by “Performance Driven” Champion spark plugs from Federal-Mogul Corporation.

Dillon, whose DOW Chevrolet returns the iconic No. 3 to NASCAR Sprint Cup racing for the first time since 2001, will be joined in the front row at Daytona by the Champion-powered No. 78 Chevrolet of Martin Truex Jr. Other top qualifiers who rely on Champion spark plugs are Greg Biffle (No. 16 Ford, third), Carl Edwards (No. 99 Ford, fourth), Ryan Newman (No. 31 Chevrolet, fifth), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (No. 17 Ford, ninth), and Paul Menard (No. 27 Chevrolet, 10th).

“With each new generation of Sprint Cup drivers and vehicles, Champion spark plugs remain the standard of excellence for performance and durability,” said Tim Nelson, director of motorsports, Federal-Mogul Vehicle Components segment. “We are thrilled to be back on the Coors Lite Pole and confident that Champion-powered cars will have a great afternoon at Daytona.”

Champion spark plugs have helped teams win hundreds of championships in virtually every form of engine-driven competition, including professional stock car racing, NHRA and IHRA drag racing, Formula One competition, and off-road truck, motorcycle, go-kart, snocross and boat racing. One of the world’s most recognized and respected brands, Champion today represents an extensive offering of advanced products, including Champion spark plugs, Champion wiper blades and Champion chemical additives for automotive and small-engine applications.
