National radio and TV personality Funkmaster Flex has extended his exclusive partnership with BP Lubricants USA, Inc. and its Castrol SYNTEC brand to produce a new reality TV series produced by RedMoxie/Joy George Films, "Castrol SYNTEC Car Wars." The show debuts April 1, 2007 and showcases four car show enthusiasts in a six-week race to customize their vehicles.

"We’ve had a great experience with Flex and are looking forward to continuing our relationship with him and supporting our new show ‘Castrol SYNTEC Car Wars,’" said Melanie Losey, Castrol SYNTEC brand manager. "Flex’s enthusiasm and love for cars is inspiring and we’re excited to have our highest performing motor oil brand, Castrol SYNTEC, alongside him."

In 2005, Castrol SYNTEC and Funkmaster Flex first teamed up to put the esteemed motor oil brand in front of Flex’s fan base. As part of that sponsorship, Castrol SYNTEC became the exclusive motor oil for all properties operated by Funkmaster Flex’s business entity, Team Baurtwell.

Castrol SYNTEC and Flex will continue their outreach efforts within the auto enthusiast marketplace, “Car Wars" will be their first project together within their extended partnership.

The show will air on ESPN2 for seven consecutive weeks in which each of the four contestants will show off their car customization skills and unique rides to win the Castrol SYNTEC “Best in Show” award and grand prize of $10,000. No leading motor oil provides more horsepower than Castrol SYNTEC so the competitor that generates the most horsepower during the dynamometer challenge (a machine used to measure power produced by an engine ) will win the Castrol SYNTEC “Best in Go” award and $2,500. The cars will be revealed and the winners will be announced at the “Car Wars” finale in Atlantic City, NJ, at Flex’s “Celebrity Car and Bike Show.” All seven episodes will also be available online at www.castrol.com/carwars.

In efforts to engage the viewing audience, after each episode, fans will have the chance to answer three questions about the show’s contestants and car customizations at www.castrolsyntec.com. Each person that answers the questions correctly will be entered into a drawing to win a $200 gift card to JEG’S, a leading source for high performance vehicle parts. Six gift cards will be awarded, one per week, leading up to the final episode where one grand prize winner will receive a $500 JEG’S gift card and a trip to Los Angeles for a four day, three night stay, to attend Funkmaster Flex’s "Celebrity Car and Bike Show."

“I’m pumped about my new show, ‘Car Wars,’ and I’m thrilled to get the fans involved,” said Funkmaster Flex, auto enthusiast and self-proclaimed “Car Show King.” “Also, I’m excited to work with Castrol SYNTEC and we plan to incorporate that same excitement and energy into the show."
