Carter Helps Aftermarket Professionals Eliminate Fuel Delivery Service Comebacks and Product Returns

Carter Fuel Delivery Products recently unveiled its new Fuel Tech Solutions program that includes timesaving replacement fuel system components and assemblies that address common fuel delivery problems encountered by technicians on millions of late-model applications.

Carter has also developed a variety of innovative training tools and other materials to help aftermarket professionals eliminate customer comebacks and product returns associated with the diagnosis and repair of fuel system problems.

These initiatives were outlined during a trade press conference at Carter’s manufacturing and R&D facility in Logansport, IN, in July.

The shift from mechanical to electrical fuel pumps and integrated fuel delivery modules in passenger vehicles has presented new diagnostic and installation challenges for automotive service professionals, with fuel delivery problems consistently ranking among the leading causes of repair comebacks.

“The reality of today’s underhood service market is that shops and their parts suppliers have one chance to do the job right; if we fail to solve the customer’s fuel delivery problem the first time, we might lose that consumer relationship to a vehicle dealership service department,” said Joe Stephan, director of marketing-fuel, chassis and brake products for Federal-Mogul. “Our new training resources and problem-solving Carter products represent a significant investment in the long-term growth of our customers’ businesses.”

Some of the training resources available to technicians include a fuel delivery diagnostic guide, interactive training module and web-based Fuel Tech Solutions service bulletins.

Carter’s Fuel Delivery Diagnostics Guide, available online and in CD format, helps technicians unlock the secrets to hundreds of common fuel delivery issues and ensures a complete, lasting repair on virtually any popular vehicle make or model. This free guide is intended to help technicians reverse the increasing incidence of fuel system-related comebacks, which can dramatically impact business profitability and customer loyalty. The web-based version is available at carterfueldelivery.com; the CD program is available through Carter distributors and Federal-Mogul sales representatives.

The Carter website also offers a broad range of print-based training materials available via download, including TSBs developed by instructors at F-M TEC.

The Carter website also provides detailed information on Carter electrical and mechanical fuel pumps and assemblies, Hi-Performance fuel pumps and an array of fuel system accessories.
“These resources will help not only the shop owner and technician, but also the jobber and distributor, who are receiving a growing number of returned fuel components that aren’t defective,” Stephan added.
