Bosal’s new Catalytic Converter catalog covers the company’s comprehensive line of direct-fit and universal catalytic converters for cars, vans, SUVs and light trucks. Application coverage ranges from 1975 to 2007 for both import and domestic vehicles. The new catalog includes 756 import, 509 domestic and 37 manifold converters SKUs for a total coverage of more than 600 models. The bi-lingual catalog, which is prepared in English and in French for the Canadian market, also features complete application data, ordering information and illustrations.

Bosal catalytic converters are quality built to OE specs and 49 state OBDII EPA compliant. They feature heavier gauge stainless steel construction with seam welded design, a ribbed body for structural stability and durability, smooth flowing inlet/outlet joints and a monolithic honeycomb catalyst for maximum flow. To minimize installation time and additional labor, Bosal also installs a factory capped, 90º air tube where applicable.

Determining Catalytic Converter Efficiency

Almost every part on the engine determines how long a catalytic converter will last.

Oxygen Sensor And Catalyst Efficiency

The catalyst efficiency monitor verifies that the catalytic converter is operating at a high enough efficiency rating to keep exhaust emissions within predetermined values. The PCM compares the signals from the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors to determine the state of the converter. These “tests” are called the readiness monitors.

Catalytic Converter Replacement

If you are replacing a catalytic converter for a customer, it is not the same as replacing a muffler or pipe. Since the catalytic converter is an emissions device that is federally and locally mandated, documentation is just as key as proper installation.
