WIX Filters recently hosted National FFA Organization officers for a deeper dive into one of the company’s manufacturing facilities. National FFA Vice President Sara Draper and North Carolina FFA Vice President Kortney Smith were led by Wayne Gipson, quality manager, and Jennifer Gibson, brand manager, on a tour of WIX’s Allen Plant.
“WIX’s roots are in heavy-duty filtration and a large part of that is the agriculture industry,” said Gibson. “I grew up in the National FFA Organization; it’s a huge source of pride for me. So, when I’m presented with an opportunity to reconnect with these amazing students, I jump at the chance. It was an honor to host these young ladies, and we wish them the best.”
Draper and Smith toured WIX’s Allen Plant, where most of the production and manufacturing focuses on heavy-duty offerings. The students got to see first-hand how a combination of WIX team members and automation create more than 1 million filters each week.
“The whole process seems really interesting,” added Smith. “but it was refreshing to so see so many people working hard on the lines to put together such quality products.”
Draper is currently serving as western region vice president for the National FFA Organization. She is studying agricultural education and business management at Utah State University. Smith is vice president for North Carolina FFA and is majoring in animal science at North Carolina State University.
