OTC Encore Update Includes New 2015 Vehicle Coverage

OTC-EncoreOTC,  a Bosch Automotive Service Solutions brand, has released the latest Encore diagnostics software update with new coverage for most Asian and domestic 2015 model year vehicles, expanded coverage for late-model vehicles and more than 3,000 special tests.

The latest diagnostics update, version 2.5.0.8, also focuses on user experience, making the tool more intuitive while strengthening speed and functionality.

Major improvements include an update to datastream and expanded information on the all DTCs scan screen.

Encore data stream now shows 16 PIDs with multiple filtering options to quickly analyze vehicle data. Enhanced search functionality and communication on multiple screens enables technicians to quickly locate a vehicle problem and begin troubleshooting and fixing.

Do Technicians Need Tips?

Asking for a tip would not go over well with your future customers.

You have probably seen many more businesses and retailers asking for tips during checkout. It is the screen typically seen before you approve the charge. I started to think about what would happen if shops would try asking for tips when customers picked up their vehicle.

Asking for tips would probably not have gone over too well with customers in the past or in today’s constantly shifting tipping culture. I think it is a question of how people think technicians are compensated. If you are paying 20% gratuity on a meal, it is understandable. But, technicians and shops provide more than a service, they provide expertise and tools that should be compensated through the number of hours billed, not a tip from the customer.
