AASA, Brake Manufacturers Council Join MEMA in Comments Filed on Washington State's Preliminary Copper Regulations

On Nov. 30, the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) and its Brake Manufacturers Council (BMC) joined with the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) in filing comments with Washington State regarding its Preliminary Better Brakes Rule. “Overall, we believe these draft regulations provide a balanced approach to the vast majority of issues,” commented Steve Handschuh, president and COO of AASA. “We are particularly supportive of the certification requirements. However, it is necessary to implement a fair and transparent system to ensure compliance by all parties and we urge the State to carefully consider industry’s comments.”
 
AASA, BMC and MEMA say they have been active participants in Washington’s Better Brake Group and will continue to work on behalf of parts suppliers as the draft regulations move forward.
