After successful appearances at the SEMA Show and L.A. Auto Show, the
WD-40/SEMA Cares Camaro will make its final stop at the 2010 San Diego International Auto Show Dec. 30, 2009 Jan. 3, 2010, before it gets sold at auction for charity next month.
The vehicle, a custom 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS/RS with a 6.2L, V8 engine and more than 600 horsepower, features a body kit, custom interior, entertainment system and paint that emulates WD-40’s signature blue and yellow can.
It will be showcased in General Motors’ retrospective Camaro exhibit inside the San Diego Convention Center. A virtual version of the vehicle also appears in Nitto 1320 Legends, an online racing game and social network with more than 900,000 members.
“We’re excited the Camaro will be showcased in our own backyard and want to continue getting as much exposure for the vehicle as possible,“ said Tim Lesmeister, vice president of marketing at San Diego-based WD-40 Company.
“Ultimately, it will be a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle for someone to show off, and its sale will help support some worthwhile charities.”
After its appearance at the San Diego Auto Show, the WD-40/SEMA Cares Camaro will be sold at auction at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show and Auction Jan. 1824 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Proceeds of the sale of the vehicle will go to Childhelp, an organization that provides services to abused and neglected children, and The Victory Junction Gang Camp, which provides life-changing camping experiences to special needs and chronically ill children.
